Future generation refrigerants (HFOs).

Relieve the ongoing pressure

Now you’ve dealt with the impending pressure of the HCFC ban, you can sit back and relax right? Wrong.

The one thing we can be sure of is that there will be ongoing pressure to reduce the environmental impact of products. And with future legislation likely to see even tighter regulations come into play as an industry we simply can’t rest on our laurels.
With manufactures preparing for the next phase of refrigeration, it’s up to us to look at containment (reducing leaks) of current systems.

In truth not much is known about HFO’s (low GWP refrigerants), or how quickly they may or may not hit the market, but you need to decide whether to take a ‘wait and see’ approach, or act today.

DuPont are developing an new range of refrigerants that will bear the trademark Opteon. These are will be HFO and HFO blends, but will not be commercially available until 2013-2014.
