Over recent years, the amount of R22 being recovered and reclaimed for sale from 2010 has only been 12% of the required demand for virgin product. If these demand levels continue, then reclaimed R22 will be in short supply and immediate availability should not be relied upon.
HRP are able to supply reclaimed R22, which is legally allowable up to 2015. BOC have reclaimed this from waste R22, to a purity of 99.5% which matches virgin/ARI specification.
Use of reclaimed R22 of lower specification, or recycled R22 which has not been subjected to the full reclaim process might contain contaminants that could impair the performance of a refrigeration system.
Contact your nearest HRP Service Centre for the details on reclaimed R22 availability.
To ensure an adequate supply of reclaimed R22 continues to be available to the market, ensure all your recovered R22 is returned to HRP or BOC for proper reprocessing.
Customers returning over 40kg of reclaimable R22 in a single cylinder will be paid a credit of at least £1.25 per kg after the refrigerant has been processed. Higher credit rates may be available for quantities over 1 tonne returned in a single transaction. Credits are also available for reclaimable R134a.
