City and Guilds 2079 category 1
For experienced engineers only who currently hold a refrigerant handling qualification
(City & Guilds 2078 or CITB equivalent).
The C & G 2079 refrigerant handling (F-Gas) qualification is a practical skills test plus an online assessment to check knowledge.
It is a legal requirement that all engineers who handle HFC type refrigerants have this qualification (or the CITB equivalent). The category 1 assessment is for engineers working on any size of system who will be accessing the system (e.g. for service), charging and recovering refrigerant and leak testing.
This five day course enables a novice to understand how an RAC system works and be able to maintain and service it and includes the City and Guilds 2079-11 refrigerant handling assessment. The following topics are included in the standard course:
The aim of the CARE sessions is to train engineers in the handling of hydrocarbons as refrigerants. Adherence to the guidelines will ensure that the CARE refrigerants are used safely and that systems using them operate with optimum performance.
Training is mandatory for the purchase of CARE products from BOC & HRP and is a condition of The British and European standard EN378.
